Period Renovation Perfection

This beautiful Edwardian apartment was in a sorry state on purchase. But high ceilings, large rooms and windows, graceful cornicing and further original architectural details spoke of its potential.

Carol, the new owner, had a clear vision for its transformation. Having used Colbran & Wingrove previously for a property renovation, she got in touch. We advised on instructing an architect to secure the necessary planning consent for the work and provided a detailed schedule and costs.

The spacious living room enjoys a westerly aspect and a large bay. Here, new French doors to the garden have replaced an old single door and an internal door to the kitchen has been blocked up.

New bespoke double doors within fixed glazed casements between the living room and kitchen make a real statement. We commissioned Bay Joinery to build them to a design Carol had spotted online and fitted them within an archway.

Elsewhere we have added storage cupboards which make clever use of the space afforded by the apartment's high ceilings in the master bedroom. Once divided into two rooms, it is now back as it should be. Our team also installed a large en-suite shower room which is concealed behind a neat pocket door, an idea suggested by Paul, our carpenter.

The main bathroom also has a walk-in shower, whilst a feature bath makes the most of the room's irregular dimensions.

In the kitchen, built-in appliances and units make use of every inch of space and continue the design scheme of soft muted colours. We also provide a comprehensive homeowner's file on completion. This includes appliance manuals and handy information such as the location of the stopcock and details on the plumbing and heating system.
