Stylish Shower Room

This bright new shower room couldn't contrast more with the old bathroom it has replaced. It also features a hidden airing cupboard. Can you spot it?

With a sloping ceiling, no natural light, compact proportions and an ageing dusky pink bath, pedestal basin and WC, the room was pretty lacklustre.

When it comes to bathroom design there is something for every budget, for all tastes, and for the most awkward and irregular of spaces. It just takes a little ingenuity when it comes to planning and fitting out this most important of rooms.

Here, the swap from a bath to a shower was a priority for the property owner. A stylish vanity unit with inset basin adds to the contemporary style and gives extra storage, whilst an LED-lit mirror above it provides additional lighting and an all-important power source for a toothbrush.

A chrome flush-fit shaver socket adds another practical yet elegant touch. The concealed cistern and WC also makes for clean lines and by stopping short of the ceiling above, we created a handy spot for further toiletries.

The walls have been fully covered with marble effect wall cladding in Calcutta Gold which gives a bright and reflective finish.

The bathroom also now conceals an airing cupboard creating invaluable and much-needed storage. Sited behind the radiator wall and with only a discreet handle to access its contents, it could easily be missed. Fitted out with shelving, it offers maximum storage and means its contents are out of sight but just where they're needed.

Our team managed every aspect of the work, from the removal of the old bathroom, floor covering and wall tiles, to the plumbing, carpentry and final decorating.
